Studio

A small studio in Haiger.

KlonkWerk is my one-person studio. I founded it in September 2026, after quitting my job in IT security to make my own games. The first one is Keep Harvesting.

Why KlonkWerk exists

From a wish at university to a studio of my own.

The games I enjoy most are small indie games. While I was at university I started wanting to build one myself, and maybe turn that into a small studio one day. The thought would not go away. In 2026 I quit my job, and now I am giving it a proper try.

Keep Harvesting is a mix of incremental game and roguelite. The harvesting mostly runs by itself, and your job is the decisions: which skill next, which card, and whether the field will survive the next trial. My favourite moment is when a new upgrade suddenly fits two others and the run plays out completely differently.

Code, game design, art, sound and this website are all on me. That makes a lot of things slower, but it also means I can rework every detail until it fits.

I am not entirely on my own, though. Friends and fellow students play every test build and tell me plainly where it drags. Since October 2026, testers who agree to it also send their play logs. That shows me the round where a run really tips over, not just where I suspect it does.

How I work

Four things I hold to

  • 01

    One game at a time

I work on exactly one game. I will start something new once Keep Harvesting is finished.

  • 02

    Rules that work together

Keep Harvesting has more than 200 skills, twelve classes and more than 50 kinds of weather. It only gets interesting when they start reinforcing each other. I spend more time on that than on adding new content.

  • 03

    Build in the open

In the devlog I write about what I am working on, what I change and why. Including when something does not work.

Test it before it comes out.

New test builds go to the Discord first. You can play along there, report bugs and tell me what feels off. On Reddit I show what is new and answer questions. There is no newsletter.
